Kristi Underwood

Position: Head Coach

Coach Kristi Underwood loves the game of softball. Her passion, drive, and knowledge are essential components of the foundation of our program here at Cherokee Bluff. 

Coach Underwood is a native of the Gainesville area. She grew up in the North Hall community and played her high school ball for North Hall High School. In 2003, she and her team made an impressive run in the state playoffs and eventually ended up State-Runner Up. That year, she was named to the GHSA First Team All-State. To this day, Coach Underwood still holds the record for career doubles and regular season doubles.

After high school, she played college ball for LaGrange College. Over the course of her collegiate career Coach Underwood played an integral part in her team winning the GSAC Championship three years in a row from 2007-2009. All three of those seasons, she and the LaGrange College Panthers made appearances in the NCAA Regionals. She accrued various honors ranging from the GSAC All-Freshman All-Conference team, to the GSAC All-Academic All-Conference squad, to receiving the Most Valuable Defensive MVP over the course of her playing career.

In 2009 at the close of her playing career, Coach Underwood joined the LaGrange College coaching staff as the Graduate Assistant. Once she recieved her M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction she decided it was time to head back up near her family. In 2010, Coach Underwood joined the softball staff at North Hall High School for one season before a coaching opportunity opened up for her at Fannin County High School. While Coach Underwood was an Assitant Varsity Coach of FCHS, the Rebels made their way to the Elite 8, and eventually finished their season as the 5th ranked team in the state. In 2011, Coach Underwood moved back to her alma mater at North Hall and spent 7 seasons as the Head JV Coach and Assistant Varsity Coach. Over the course of her time spent at North Hall, the Lady Trojans made several deep playoff appearances, was named Region Runner-Up, and competed at a high level.

Coach Underwood was named the inaugural Head Coach of Cherokee Bluff High School. She strives to run a program built upon the foundations of hard work, integrity, honesty, positivity, and most of all enjoyable. Her players come first, always, no matter what. Coach Underwood wishes to do whatever she can to help her athletes succeed, whether that's getting them to the collegiate level, or getting into the college or university of their choice.

When she's not on the ball field, Coach Underwood loves spending time with family and friends, as well as her dogs, Scout and Lucy!



Kim Logan

Position: Assistant Coach

Coach Kim Logan is a crucial member of our coaching staff here at Cherokee Bluff. She brings with her years of playing and coaching experience.

Coach Logan started her softball career at West Hall High School where she made a name for herself in the softball community. She was a member of a squad that finished 3rd place in 2002. After high school, Coach Logan tallied impressive stats at LaGrange College. Over the course of her playing career from 2003-2007, she received many accolades such as GSAC Freshman of the Year, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association 2nd-Team All Region, and the GSAC Player of the Year just to name a few of them. Coach Logan was also nominated for the GSAC All-Conference team all four years of her career at LaGrange College. She was a member of the GSAC Conference Championship team in 2007.

After she finished her outstanding playing career, Coach Logan joined the coaching staff at LaGrange College from 2007-2009. The Panthers won the conference championship both seasons while she was on staff. From LaGrange College, Coach Logan made her way to Maryville College where she was named the Head Coach of the Scots. She led the Scots from 2009-2013. After her stint in Maryville, Coach Logan returned home to Gainesville where she led several different Middle School programs until she found her home here at Cherokee Bluff!

When she's not on the ball field, Coach Logan enjoys spending time with her husband, Nathaniel, and their two dogs, Sadie and Abby.
